Young children traveling without a parent or legal guardian are considered Unaccompanied Minors. If your child will be flying alone, it’s important to take all necessary precautions to ensure their safety.

Eligible Flights for Unaccompanied Minor Service

You can purchase the Unaccompanied Minor service if your child is traveling on:

• A non-stop flight operated by Air Canada or Air Canada Rouge.

• A non-stop Air Canada Express flight operated by Jazz, Sky Regional, Air Georgian GX (Flight series 7350-7499), or Exploits Valley Air 8K (Flight series 7615-7649).

Important: The Unaccompanied Minor service cannot be purchased for connecting or codeshare flights.

Age Restrictions

• Mandatory Service: The Unaccompanied Minor service is required for children aged 8 to 11 traveling alone.
• Accompanied by Adult: Children under age 8 must be accompanied by a passenger who is 16 years or older. The accompanying adult must be seated in the same cabin and next to the child.
• Optional Service: The Unaccompanied Minor service is optional for youth aged 12 to 17 traveling alone.
• Accompanying Adult: Only adult passengers (16 years or older) may accompany minors under age 12.

Fees and Meals

• A service fee of $100 - $118.00 CAD/USD each way applies per child, regardless of the fare selected.

• If your child aged 8 to 17 is traveling as an unaccompanied minor on a flight offering only Air Canada Bistro service, the price of a meal or hot snack is included in the service fee.

• Complimentary Service: Non-alcoholic beverages are always complimentary on all flights.

• Complimentary meals are available for all passengers in:

North America and Caribbean Business Class and International Business Class;

International Economy Class, except on flights to/from Sun and Caribbean destinations (Air Canada Bistro service is available on these flights).
