Passengers flying with Air China are permitted to bring:

Carry-on Baggage

• Passengers traveling in First Class or Business Class are permitted to carry two (2) pieces of carry-on baggage, with each piece not exceeding eight (8) kilograms (17 lbs).

• Passengers traveling in Economy Class may carry one (1) piece of carry-on baggage, with a maximum weight of five (5) kilograms (11 lbs).

The dimensions of each carry-on item must not exceed 55 centimeters (22 in.) in length, 40 centimeters (16 in.) in width, and 20 centimeters (8 in.) in height. These dimensions ensure that the baggage can be stowed securely in the overhead compartment or placed under the seat in front of the passenger during the flight.

Any item that cannot be stored in the overhead bin or under the seat, is overweight or oversized, or is deemed a potential safety hazard must be transported as checked baggage.

Free Baggage Allowance on Transportation in Mainland China

Dimensions of Checked Baggage on Domestic Transportation

Each piece of checked baggage must not exceed 100 cm (40 in.) in length, 60 cm (24 in.) in width, and 40 cm (16 in.) in height.

Free Allowance for Ordinary Checked Baggage on Domestic Transportation

(1) For passengers holding adult or child tickets, the free baggage allowance is:

• First Class: 40 kg (88 lbs)
• Business Class: 30 kg (66 lbs)
• Economy Class: 20 kg (44 lbs)

(2) For passengers holding infant tickets, the free baggage allowance is 10 kg (22 lbs). In addition, one foldable baby stroller or cradle can be checked at no charge.

(3) For PhoenixMiles Lifetime Platinum members and Platinum members, one additional piece of ordinary checked baggage may be carried free of charge. This additional piece must not exceed 30 kg (66 lbs).

(4) For PhoenixMiles Gold and Silver members, one extra piece of ordinary checked baggage is permitted free of charge. This additional piece must not exceed 20 kg (44 lbs).

(5) For Star Alliance Gold members, one additional piece of ordinary checked baggage may be checked free of charge, with a maximum weight of 20 kg (44 lbs).

If the checked baggage exceeds the allowed weight, dimensions, or number of pieces, an excess baggage fee will apply for the excess portion.

Free Checked Baggage Allowance on International / Regional Routes

Air China applies the piece concept to checked baggage on international flights.

(1) Dimensions

The total dimensions (length + width + height, including handles and wheels) of each checked bag must not exceed 158 cm (62 in.).

(2) Weight Allowance

• First / Business Class

Passengers with adult or child tickets are allowed two (2) checked bags free of charge, each weighing up to 32 kg (70 lbs).

• Economy Class

(i) Passengers flying on the following Air China-operated routes are allowed one (1) checked bag free of charge, weighing up to 23 kg (50 lbs):

Europe, Africa, the Middle East (excluding the UAE), Asia-Pacific (excluding Japan, Kazakhstan, Australia, and New Zealand), Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, and Hawaii.

(ii) Passengers flying on the following Air China-operated routes are allowed two (2) checked bags free of charge, each weighing up to 23 kg (50 lbs):

The Americas (excluding Hawaii), Japan, the UAE, Kazakhstan, Australia, and New Zealand.

• Infant Passengers

Infants are entitled to one (1) checked bag free of charge, up to 23 kg (50 lbs), plus one foldable baby cot, stroller, or cradle.

• PhoenixMiles Members

PhoenixMiles Lifetime Platinum, Platinum, Gold, and Silver members are entitled to one (1) additional checked bag free of charge.

– For First/Business Class: up to 32 kg (70 lbs)

– For Economy Class: up to 23 kg (50 lbs)

• Star Alliance Members

Star Alliance Gold members may check one (1) additional bag free of charge, weighing up to 23 kg (50 lbs).

Athletic Sports Equipment

Firearms and ammunition intended for sports purposes must be transported as checked baggage and accompanied by the appropriate documentation issued by the relevant authorities. These items must be securely locked and packed separately, and carriage is subject to Air China’s prior approval.

Each passenger may transport up to 5 kg (11 lbs) gross weight of bullets. If traveling as a group, bullets must be packed individually by each group member. Such items do not count toward the free baggage allowance and will be charged as excess baggage.

Passengers checking in firearms and ammunition must complete all required formalities at least 90 minutes before the flight's scheduled departure time.
