Air Niugini provides an unaccompanied minor service for eligible children
travelling through Australian airports including
Sydney Airport,
Brisbane Airport,
and Cairns Airport.
Eligibility
The service applies to children within specified age ranges defined by airline
policy. Age thresholds determine whether escort assistance is mandatory or
optional. Younger passengers are required to travel under supervision
arrangements.
Booking Requirements
Advance booking of the service is required before departure. Details of the
accompanying adult at departure and the receiving guardian at arrival must be
provided. Documentation including identification and contact information is
verified during check-in at Australian airports.
Airport Assistance
Dedicated staff assist minors through check-in, security screening, boarding,
and aircraft handover. At departure airports, the child is escorted through all
travel stages until seated onboard the aircraft. Cabin crew assume
responsibility during flight.
Arrival Procedures
Upon arrival in Port Moresby or onward destinations, airline staff escort the
child through immigration and baggage collection procedures before release to
the designated guardian. Identification checks are mandatory prior to handover.
Restrictions
Certain flight connections and overnight transits may not be eligible for
unaccompanied minor travel. Connecting itineraries involving multiple carriers
require prior confirmation of acceptance conditions. Emergency contact details
must remain valid throughout the journey.
