AirAsia X » Baggage Allowance
Passengers travelling on AirAsia X flights departing from Australian Airports
follow a weight-based baggage system applied across cabin and checked luggage
categories. Allowances vary depending on fare type and pre-purchased add-ons
selected during booking or through the airline’s digital platform.
Carry-on Baggage
Each Economy passenger is permitted one cabin bag with a maximum weight of 7 kg
and one small personal item such as a laptop bag or small backpack. Cabin
baggage must fit within overhead compartment dimensions specified at check-in.
Items exceeding weight or size limits are required to be checked in, with
additional charges applied at airport counters in Australia.
Premium Flatbed passengers receive increased cabin baggage allowance, including
two cabin items within combined weight limits set by the airline, plus one
personal item stored under the seat.
Checked Baggage
AirAsia X uses a pre-purchased baggage bundle system for flights from Australia.
Standard Economy fares may not include checked baggage unless selected during
booking. Pre-booked allowances typically range from 20 kg to higher tier bundles
up to 40 kg depending on fare class and route.
Each checked item must comply with a maximum weight limit of 32 kg per piece due
to occupational safety regulations at Australian Airports. Oversized baggage
exceeding linear dimension limits requires prior approval.
Additional baggage can be purchased online at lower rates compared to airport
counters. Sports equipment such as surfboards, golf bags, and bicycles is
accepted under special handling rules and may require advance notification.
Excess baggage is charged per kilogram or per bundle depending on fare structure
and departure point within Australia.
