AirAsia X provides multiple check-in channels for passengers departing from Australian Airports, including digital check-in, airport kiosks, and staffed counters managed by ground handling partners.

Online and Mobile Check-in

Web and mobile check-in opens 14 days before departure and closes several hours prior to scheduled flight time, depending on airport regulations in Australia. Passengers can select seats, confirm travel documents, and generate mobile boarding passes through the AirAsia MOVE platform. Boarding passes may also be printed for use at airport security and boarding gates.

Airport Counter Check-in

Check-in counters at Sydney Airport, Melbourne Airport, and Perth Airport open approximately 3 to 4 hours before departure. Passengers must present valid passports, visas, and any required entry documents for Malaysia or onward destinations. Baggage drop is completed at the same counter for checked luggage.

Self-Service Facilities

Selected Australian Airports provide self-service kiosks operated by ground handlers, allowing passengers to print boarding passes and baggage tags before proceeding to bag drop counters. Availability depends on terminal infrastructure.

Check-in Closure

Check-in counters close approximately 60 minutes before departure for international flights. Boarding gates close earlier depending on security procedures at each Australian Airport. Passengers who do not complete check-in within the required timeframe are not accepted for travel.

Special Assistance Check-in

Passengers requiring wheelchair support, medical clearance, or unaccompanied minor processing must check in at staffed counters. Advance notification is required to ensure coordination with airport service providers in Australia.

These policies may differ, however, so you should check with AirAsia X for its timings, rules and procedure that may apply during check-in.
