Young children traveling without a parent or legal guardian are considered to be Unaccompanied Minors. If you are allowing your child to fly alone as an unaccompanied minor, be sure to take every necessary precaution to ensure his or her safety.

Here's what parents/guardians need to know when booking from Australia:

Eligibility & Age Requirements


• Mandatory for ages 5–11 traveling without an adult.

• Optional for ages 12–17 (parent/guardian can request supervision).

• Not available for children under 5 (must travel with an adult aged 16+).

Booking Requirements

• The service must be arranged at least 48 hours before departure via ANA offices or phone (not available online).

• Submit a completed Unaccompanied Minor Form, including guardian contact details and pick-up person's ID.

• A fee applies (varies by route; confirm when booking).

Airport Procedures (Australia)

• Check-in: Arrive 3 hours before departure at the airport (Sydney/Melbourne/Brisbane) with:

• Child's passport & visa (if required)

• Completed UM documents

• Escort: ANA staff will guide the child through security, immigration, and boarding.

During the Flight

The child will be seated near cabin crew for constant supervision.

Standard meals and entertainment are provided (special diets require pre-arrangement).

Arrival & Pick-Up

The designated pick-up person must present photo ID and sign a release form at the destination airport.

Any flight delays or changes must be reported immediately to ANA.

Restrictions

UM service is not available on codeshare flights with other airlines.

Flights must be direct or ANA-operated connections (no overnight layovers without adult supervision).
