British Airways does not provide a formal unaccompanied minor service for
children departing from Australian airports.
Children under 14 years of age are not permitted to travel alone and must be
accompanied by a passenger aged 16 or older who is travelling on the same or a
linked booking.
Children aged 14 or 15 are allowed to travel alone; however, they are treated as
adult passengers and must be able to manage their journey independently. British
Airways does not take on parental responsibility for these passengers.
For young travelers aged 14 or 15 flying solo, the following documents are
required:
• A completed and signed consent form from the parent or guardian.
• A copy of the parent or guardian’s photo ID (with signature).
• All necessary travel documents, including passport, visas, and return
itinerary.
The young traveler must check in at the airport with a parent or guardian
present and cannot use online check-in. The parent or guardian may accompany the
child to the security checkpoint, but not beyond.
In the event of delays or disruptions, British Airways will try to contact the
parent or guardian. If unreachable, local authorities may be contacted to ensure
the child’s safety.
