YCathay Pacific offers an Unaccompanied Minor (UM) service for children flying alone from Australia to ensure a secure and comfortable journey. This service is mandatory for children aged 6 to under 12 who are not accompanied by a passenger aged 18 or over. It is optional for minors aged 12 to under 18, based on parental request.

The UM service must be arranged at least 24 hours before departure and can be booked through Cathay Pacific’s customer support or via a travel agent. A service fee is charged per child, per flight sector.

On the day of travel, parents or guardians must fill out a UM handling form and provide full contact details of both the person dropping off and receiving the child. A Cathay Pacific representative will assist the child through check-in, immigration, and boarding, and the cabin crew will supervise them during the flight.

Upon arrival, the child is personally escorted off the aircraft and handed over to the authorized guardian after identity verification. The service is available only for Cathay Pacific-operated flights and is not offered if the itinerary includes other airlines or requires terminal transfers with long layovers.

These policies may differ, however, so you should check with Cathay Pacific for a description of its rules and services and any additional charges that may apply.
