Passengers travelling with China Southern Airlines from Australian Airports are permitted to carry the following baggage allowances according to fare class and route conditions.

Baggage Allowance

Carry-on Baggage

Passengers departing from Australian Airports in Economy Class and Premium Economy Class may carry one cabin bag with a maximum weight of 8 kg. The dimensions of the bag must not exceed 55 cm x 40 cm x 20 cm.

Business Class and First Class passengers may carry two cabin bags within the same size limits. Personal items including handbags, laptop bags, duty-free purchases, umbrellas, or small backpacks are permitted in addition to the cabin baggage allowance where size restrictions are satisfied.

Cabin baggage exceeding the permitted dimensions or weight must be checked into the aircraft hold before departure from Australian Airports.

Checked Baggage Allowance

Checked baggage allowance for China Southern Airlines flights departing from Australian Airports operates under the piece concept for international routes.

• Economy Class: 2 pieces up to 23 kg each on Australia-China routes
• Premium Economy Class: 2 pieces up to 23 kg each
• Business Class: 2 pieces up to 32 kg each
• First Class: 3 pieces up to 32 kg each

Each checked baggage item must not exceed 158 cm in total dimensions.

The maximum accepted weight per individual checked item is 32 kg. Oversized or overweight baggage requires repacking or additional handling approval before acceptance.

Extra Baggage

Passengers may purchase additional baggage allowance through China Southern Airlines online platforms, ticket offices, or airport counters. Advance purchase rates are lower than airport excess baggage charges.

Sky Pearl Club elite members receive additional baggage entitlements depending on membership tier. Silver members receive additional allowance while Gold and Platinum members receive higher baggage privileges on eligible tickets.

Special baggage including sporting equipment, musical instruments, medical equipment, and oversized items requires prior approval and additional charges may apply for departures from Australian Airports.
