Passengers travelling with Etihad Airways from Australian Airports are permitted to carry the following:

Carry-on Baggage

Passengers departing from Australian Airports in Economy Class may bring one cabin bag with a maximum weight of 7 kg. Cabin baggage dimensions must not exceed 56 cm x 36 cm x 23 cm including wheels and handles.

Business Class and First Class passengers departing from Australian Airports may carry two cabin bags with a combined weight limit of 12 kg.

One additional personal item such as a handbag, laptop bag, or small backpack is permitted provided it fits beneath the seat in front.

Cabin baggage exceeding permitted size or weight limits at Australian Airports may be transferred to the aircraft hold and additional charges may apply.

Sharp objects, liquids exceeding security restrictions, and prohibited items are not accepted in carry-on baggage under Australian aviation security regulations.

Checked Baggage Allowance

Etihad Airways applies either weight-based or piece-based baggage policies depending on route and fare category for flights departing from Australian Airports.

• Economy Class: Allowances ranging from 23 kg to 35 kg depending on fare type
• Business Class: Up to 40 kg
• First Class: Up to 50 kg

For routes operating under the piece concept, passengers may check baggage within the specified number of pieces and dimension limits.

Each checked bag must not exceed 158 cm in total dimensions and individual baggage weight must remain within airport handling limits.

Extra Baggage

Passengers travelling from Australian Airports may purchase additional baggage online, through Etihad Airways contact centres, or at airport service counters.

Prepaid excess baggage rates purchased before departure are lower than airport excess baggage charges.

Special baggage including bicycles, golf equipment, surfboards, and musical instruments may require advance approval and handling charges depending on dimensions and route conditions.
