Fiji Airways baggage rules for flights departing Australian airports are structured according to fare category, cabin class, and route type. Allowances are applied at the time of ticket issuance and are reflected in the passenger itinerary.

Carry-on Baggage

Passengers in Economy Class are permitted one cabin bag with a maximum weight of 7 kg, along with one personal item such as a laptop bag or small backpack. Business Class passengers are permitted up to two cabin items with a combined allowance of 14 kg. Cabin baggage dimensions must comply with overhead locker and under-seat storage limits defined by aircraft type, including Airbus A330, A350, and Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft operating Australian routes.

All carry-on items are subject to security screening at Australian airports such as Sydney Airport, Melbourne Airport, Brisbane Airport, and Adelaide Airport. Items exceeding permitted size or weight limits are transferred to the aircraft hold and may incur additional charges if they exceed ticket entitlements.

Checked Baggage Allowance

Checked baggage entitlement varies by fare type. Economy promotional fares may exclude checked baggage, while standard Economy fares generally include 30 kg total allowance distributed across one or more pieces depending on ticket conditions. Business Class passengers are allocated higher allowances, commonly up to 40 kg total, subject to per-piece weight restrictions.

Each checked item must not exceed 32 kg in a single piece and must remain within standard linear dimension limits of 158 cm. Bags exceeding these thresholds require repacking or special handling procedures at airport check-in counters.

Additional and Excess Baggage

Extra baggage can be pre-purchased through Fiji Airways’ booking system prior to departure from Australian airports. Prepaid baggage options are structured at lower rates than airport counter charges. Excess baggage is calculated based on weight or piece concept depending on the route.

Special baggage such as sporting equipment, musical instruments, and mobility aids is accepted under defined handling conditions and may require advance notification before travel from Australia.
