When flying with Philippine Airlines (PAL) from Australia—such as from Sydney,
Melbourne, or Brisbane—passengers are entitled to a baggage allowance that
varies depending on their ticket class, destination, and frequent flyer status.
For most economy class passengers, the free checked baggage allowance is 30
kg, while those in premium economy enjoy up to 35 kg. Business class travelers
are allowed 40 kg. PAL uses the weight system for flights originating in
Australia, rather than a piece-based system. This means you can check multiple
bags as long as the total weight does not exceed the allowance.
Hand-carry (cabin) baggage is limited to 7 kg for all classes, with dimensions
not exceeding 56 cm x 36 cm x 23 cm. In addition, passengers may bring one small
personal item like a handbag, laptop, or camera bag.
Mabuhay Miles Elite and Premier Elite members are entitled to additional checked
baggage privileges, depending on their tier level.
Excess baggage fees apply if you exceed the free baggage allowance. Rates vary
by route and are typically charged per kilogram. PAL often offers prepaid
baggage options at discounted rates when purchased in advance through their
website or ticket offices.
For passengers carrying sports equipment, musical instruments, or special items,
Philippine Airlines provides specific guidelines and charges depending on size
and weight.
