Qantas Airways is Australia’s national carrier and the country’s largest
airline, measured by fleet size, international routes, and destinations.
Founded in November 1920, Qantas is the third oldest airline in the world, following KLM and Avianca. It began operating international passenger services in May 1935. The airline’s name originates from the acronym QANTAS, which stands for Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Services. Fondly known as “The Flying Kangaroo,” Qantas is also a founding member of the Oneworld alliance, one of the world’s leading global airline networks.
