Qatar Airways offers dedicated services for unaccompanied minors (UMs) departing
from Australian airports such as Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth,
ensuring young travelers are cared for throughout their journey.
Eligibility
Children aged 5 to 15 years traveling alone are considered unaccompanied minors.
Children under 5 years are not permitted to travel alone and must be accompanied
by a passenger aged 16 or older.
Children aged 16 or 17 may travel alone without the UM service but can still opt
in if preferred by parents.
Booking the Service
The UM service must be pre-booked in advance through Qatar Airways’ office or
travel agents; it cannot be booked online.
Full fare is required for unaccompanied minors (no discounted child fare).
Check-In Process
Parents or guardians must accompany the child to the airport and remain until
the flight departs.
At check-in, you must provide identification, contact details, and information
of the person receiving the child at the destination.
In-Flight & Transit
A dedicated staff member escorts the child through all airport formalities,
during boarding, and during transits at Hamad International Airport (Doha).
Onboard, cabin crew monitor and assist the child throughout the flight.
Arrival
The receiving guardian must show proper ID and arrive at the destination airport
on time for collection.
