Australian government regulations require airlines to disembark all passengers
and their cabin luggage at the first port of call into Australia.
Canberra Airport's international terminal is located within the same building as
the domestic terminal. If you are transiting Canberra Airport from overseas you
will be required to undergo the regular passenger screening process, including
potential random selection for body scanning, prior to entering the transit
lounge.
Canberra Airport do not operate on a 24 hour basis and overnight stays are not
permitted. There are no airport transit lounge facilities to facilitate transit
of ‘transit without a visa’ TWOV eligible passengers. All passengers transiting
through these airports will require an Australian visa such as a Transit visa.
