American Airlines Lost & Found

If you’ve lost an item while flying with American Airlines from an Australian airport such as Sydney Airport (SYD) or Brisbane Airport (BNE), there are several ways to recover your belongings depending on where the item was lost.

Lost Items Onboard or at the Gate

If you left something on the aircraft or at the boarding gate, contact American Airlines staff at the airport as soon as possible. You can visit the Baggage Service Office near the baggage claim area or speak to an airline representative at the departure gate if you're still inside the terminal.

Once you've left the airport, you can file a Lost & Found report through the airline’s official website. Provide detailed information including flight number, travel date, and a full description of the lost item. American Airlines typically keeps a record and attempts to locate your item for up to 30 days.

Delayed or Lost Checked Baggage

If your checked baggage didn’t arrive, immediately report it at the Baggage Service Office before leaving the airport. You’ll be given a reference number to track your bag. If the bag is not found within five days, you may be asked to submit a more detailed claim form and could be eligible for compensation.
