China Airlines provides an Unaccompanied Minor (UM) service for children
travelling alone on eligible international and regional routes.
Children between 5 and 11 years old travelling without a parent or legal
guardian are required to use the Unaccompanied Minor service. Passengers aged 12
to 17 years may request the service optionally.
Advance reservations for UM travel must be completed before departure.
Availability is limited according to aircraft type and route conditions.
Parents or guardians must provide:
• Valid identification documents
• Contact details for pickup and drop-off persons
• Required visas and travel permits
• Signed unaccompanied minor forms
At Australian Airports, guardians accompanying the child must remain at the
airport until the aircraft has departed.
China Airlines staff supervise unaccompanied minors during check-in, boarding,
transit connections, and arrival procedures. Children are handed only to the
authorized receiving adult listed in travel documentation.
The airline may restrict unaccompanied minor travel on routes involving
overnight connections, irregular operations, or transfers between terminals.
Additional service charges apply for UM handling depending on destination and
routing.
Meals, seating assignments, and onboard assistance are coordinated by cabin crew
during the journey.
