LATAM » Baggage Allowance
Passengers travelling on LATAM flights departing from Australian Airports are
required to comply with the baggage allowance shown on their ticket
confirmation. Allowances vary according to fare type, travel cabin, and frequent
flyer status.
Carry-on Baggage
Passengers travelling in Economy are permitted to bring one cabin bag together
with one personal item. The cabin bag must comply with LATAM's published size
requirements and must fit inside the overhead storage compartment. The combined
cabin baggage weight must not exceed 12 kg.
The personal item may include a handbag, laptop bag, camera case, or small
backpack. It must fit completely beneath the seat in front of the passenger.
Passengers travelling in Premium Business may also carry one cabin bag and one
personal item, with the same combined maximum weight of 16 kg.
All cabin baggage departing from Australian Airports is subject to aviation
security screening. Items exceeding permitted dimensions or weight limits may be
transferred to the aircraft hold and applicable fees may apply.
Checked Baggage Allowance
Checked baggage entitlement depends on the fare purchased for travel from
Australian Airports.
• Economy Light: Checked baggage not included unless purchased separately.
• Economy Standard: 1 piece up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
• Economy Full: 1 piece up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
• Premium Business: 2 pieces, each up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
Each checked bag must not exceed 158 cm (62 inches) in total linear dimensions.
Baggage weighing more than 23 kg may be accepted only within LATAM's published
maximum weight limits and may attract overweight charges. Individual bags
exceeding the airline's acceptance limit must be repacked before check-in.
Extra Baggage
Passengers departing from Australian Airports may purchase additional checked
baggage before departure through LATAM's website, mobile application, customer
service, or airport service counters. Advance purchases are offered subject to
availability and fare conditions.
Additional fees apply when baggage exceeds the permitted number of pieces,
weight allowance, or size restrictions. Sports equipment, musical instruments,
and oversized items may require advance notification and are accepted in
accordance with LATAM's special baggage policy.
