LATAM Airlines is the largest airline group in Latin America, with its corporate
headquarters in Santiago, Chile. The airline group was established following the
merger of LAN Airlines and TAM Airlines in 2012 and operates passenger and cargo
services through affiliated airlines in Chile, Brazil, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador,
and Paraguay.
LATAM provides an extensive network linking South America with destinations
across North America, Europe, Oceania, the Caribbean, and selected international
markets. In Australia, LATAM operates scheduled passenger services through
Sydney Airport. The airline provides direct flights between Sydney and Santiago
using Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, creating one of the few nonstop air
links between Australia and South America.
Through its Santiago hub, passengers departing from Australia can connect to
destinations throughout Chile, Brazil, Argentina, Peru, Uruguay, Colombia,
Ecuador, Paraguay, Bolivia, and additional international cities served by the
LATAM network.
As of June 2026, LATAM serves approximately 166 destinations across 28 countries
through its combined passenger network. The airline also maintains codeshare
partnerships with several international carriers, allowing Australian travellers
to continue their journeys on a single itinerary beyond LATAM-operated
destinations.
