LATAM Lost & Found

Australian Airports on its Sydney - Santiago service and connecting itineraries within its network. Items left onboard aircraft, misplaced within terminal facilities, or related to checked baggage irregularities are handled through separate reporting channels depending on where the loss occurred.

Items Left on Aircraft

Belongings discovered onboard LATAM flights arriving into or departing from Sydney Airport are collected by cabin crew during post-flight cabin checks and handed to the ground handling agent. These items are registered and stored securely at the airport’s designated airline handling facility. Identification checks are required before collection is permitted.

Items Misplaced at the Airport

Personal belongings left in terminal areas such as check-in halls, security screening zones, immigration areas, boarding gates, or lounges at Australian Airports are managed by the respective airport operator’s lost property office. LATAM staff at the airport may assist passengers in directing enquiries to the correct facility.

Delayed or Missing Checked Baggage

Passengers arriving into Australian Airports who do not receive their checked baggage must immediately report to the baggage service desk before leaving the arrivals area. A Property Irregularity Report (PIR) is generated to initiate tracing. Baggage tracking is conducted through the airline’s global baggage system, which records movement across transfer points and handling stations.

Reporting Procedure

Passengers must provide flight details, baggage tag receipts, passport identification, and a description of the missing item when lodging a report. Contact details are recorded to facilitate updates on tracing progress. Reports are prioritised based on flight arrival time and baggage handling logs.

Storage and Retrieval

Recovered items are stored for a limited holding period at the relevant Australian Airport facility. Collection requires valid photo identification and proof of ownership. Unclaimed items may be disposed of or transferred in accordance with airport regulations after the retention period expires.

Passengers are advised to retain valuables, travel documents, electronics, and essential medication in cabin baggage at all times when travelling through Australian Airports.
