LATAM Airlines operates a mixed fleet of wide-body and narrow-body aircraft
across its international network, with long-haul services between Australia and
South America operated exclusively by Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft. The
Sydney - Santiago route is configured specifically for extended flight duration,
fuel efficiency, and long-range operational performance.
Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner Configuration
The Boeing 787-9 used on Australian services is arranged in a dual-cabin layout
comprising Premium Business and Economy Class.
Premium Business Cabin
Premium Business seats are arranged in a 2-2-2 configuration across the forward
section of the aircraft. Each seat converts into a fully flat bed and includes
direct aisle access in selected positions. Features include adjustable lumbar
support, personal storage compartments, reading lighting, USB and power outlets,
and enhanced dining service. Privacy dividers are installed between seat pairs
depending on configuration.
Economy Class Cabin
Economy seating is arranged in a 3-3-3 layout. Seats include adjustable
headrests, personal entertainment screens, and recline functionality. Seat pitch
is configured for long-haul comfort standards, with access to USB power outlets
at each seat. Cabin lighting is adjusted dynamically to support long-duration
overnight operations between Australia and South America.
In-flight Entertainment and Connectivity
All aircraft operating to and from Australian Airports are equipped with
seatback entertainment systems offering films, television programs, music, and
interactive maps. Wi-Fi connectivity is available on selected aircraft, subject
to satellite coverage and operational conditions on the South Pacific route.
Seat Selection
Seat selection is available during booking or through the manage booking system
prior to departure. Preferred seating options, including exit rows and bulkhead
seats, are offered for an additional fee or based on fare class eligibility.
Standard seat assignment is completed during check-in when pre-selection is not
made.
