SriLankan Airlines offers an Unaccompanied Minor (UM) service for eligible children travelling without a parent or legal guardian on selected international flights, including services departing from Australian airports.

Eligibility

Children within the airline's specified age range may travel under the Unaccompanied Minor programme. The service is mandatory for younger children travelling alone and may be available as an optional service for older minors, subject to airline policy and route eligibility.

Booking Requirements

Unaccompanied Minor travel cannot be arranged through every booking channel. Reservations require advance approval from SriLankan Airlines, and the service must be confirmed before ticket issuance. Parents or guardians are required to complete the necessary forms before departure.

Airport Procedures

The accompanying adult must remain with the child during check-in at the Australian departure airport until airline staff formally accept responsibility. Government-issued identification and contact information for both the departure and arrival guardians are required.

Throughout the journey, airline personnel supervise the child during boarding, the flight, transit where applicable, and arrival procedures.

Arrival

The authorised receiving adult must be present at the destination airport before the scheduled arrival time. Airline staff release the child only after verifying the identity of the nominated guardian against the information recorded during booking.
